About MELT® and MELT® Performance

About MELT® and MELT® Performance:

MELT uses gentle tools and self-care protocols to improve the supportive qualities of the connective tissue system to restore neurological stability and sensory motor control. Using active and passive methods, these techniques help regulate sympathetic to parasympathetic tone, improve heart rate variability, and fine-tune sensorimotor control.

New research has revealed the missing link to pain-free living: a balanced nervous system and healthy, supportive connective tissue. These two components work together to provide your body support and optimal mind-body communication.  MELT directly addresses these two systems.  Restoring the fluid flow in fascia is a critical element to overall health and immune functions.

The goal of MELT is to improve your body's ability to restore balance and repair itself, which can create lasting changes.  MELT offers natural pain relief, allowing you to address the true cause of chronic pain, not just mask the symptoms.  Using the 4R protocol of the MELT Restore Program: Reconnect, Rebalance, Rehydrate, Release, you learn to identify and eliminate the culprit to pain symptoms and become your own self-care manager.  Using the 2Rs of NeuroStrength and the MELT Performance program, you'll improve joint stability to help you lead an active, healthy, pain-free life.

All MELT techniques and protocols were built upon key aspects of these major hands-on therapies and influencers: Neuromuscular Therapy (Chaitow), CranioSacral (Upledger), Manual Muscle Testing (Kendall and McCreary), Lymphatic Drainage (Chikly), Visceral Manipulation (Barral), Anatomy Trains (Myers), Structural Integration (Rolf), the World Fascia Congress (Vleeming, Polack, Hedley, Stecco et al.), and others.

About the creator of the MELT Method®
The MELT Method® was created by Sue Hitzmann, MS, CST, NMT as the culmination of decades of practice, research, and study of connective tissue science and complementary therapies.  She is a nationally recognized somatic-movement educator and manual therapist. While at the height of her earlier career as an international fitness presenter and instructor, Sue began to experience debilitating pain in her foot which threatened her career and quality of life.  She learned the hard way that diet, exercise and muscular strength are not the foundation of a healthy pain-free body.  In her quest to live an active, pain-free life, she became fascinated by the emerging science of connective tissue, or fascia, and eventually, realized that it is connective tissue dehydration that is the underlying cause of the daily aches, stiffness and strain that leads to pain, as well as weight gain, sleep problems, and many other seemingly unrelated issues.  Sue initially developed expertise in hands-on bodywork to effectively deal with connective tissue dehydration. She then gradually developed the MELT Method® to work effectively with herself and to give her clients homework to be able to help themselves.  For more information on Sue Hitzmann or the MELT Method® visit http://www.meltmethod.com/
